Main Thermal Springs Pools in Sao Miguel Island

One of the main attractions of the island of Sao Miguel are its thermal baths, if you are organizing a visit to the island you shouldn't dismiss the opportunity to get inside these amazing pools of sulfuric water, moreover Sao Miguel is one of the few places where you can enjoy a bath into really hot seawater, keep reading. -"POÇA DA DONA BEIJA" in Furnas", the most popular place for spring water pools. Eventhough the maximun stay into the pools is limited to 1hour and a half, in my opinion is totally enough, waters are so hot that to stand up more time can become painful and cause a little headache. CLIMBING PICO DA VARA, SAO MIGUEL

There is no doubt Sao Miguel Island has something special, placed in the middle of the Atlantic and fullfilled with landscapes you only could imagine from New Zealand or the exotic Pacific Hawaii island. In a certain way we are lucky to have this miracle of the nature so close to the european continent. I wanna show you today the "Pico Da Vara" trail. Pico Da Vara, accounting 1103m, is the highest point in "Sao Miguel" island and the second highest in the Azors just after "Montanha Do Pico" in Pico Island. We could consider this a medium level hike, not for kids or ancients but affordable for quite less harsh than "Montaha do Pico". It takes around 2 hours to reach the peak and 1'5 half hours for the downhill.
